Library Branches

February 27, 2009

Today, my site supervisor and I went to both library branches to take photos. The branches are in Hoffman Estates and Hanover Park, and are both relatively new buildings. The Hoffman Estates branch is about seven years old, and the Hanover Park branch is two years old.

The photos I took are of all aspects of the branches, including circulation, kids areas, teen areas, reference, and staff areas. I’ve uploaded the photos to Flickr and added them to sets and collections. I used Picnik with these photos to brighten them, because many of them were very dark.

Both branches are really great. They each have a different look, but are both very inviting. The kids areas are really fun, and have some very cool elements. The Hanover Park branch has a castle where storytime is held. They also have a dinosaur and mummy statue. The Hoffman Estates branch has a mobile on the ceiling that has different nursery rhymes in it.

It was nice to be able to see the branches in person.

Thanks for initiating the visit to the branches. That was a great idea and not only did it give you more pictures to work with but it also allowed you to see the other aspects of our library.
