Quiet Night….

February 9, 2009

Tonight has been very quiet so far, as opposed to last Monday night. I have showed a couple of patrons where to find books, and directed others to where they need to be. We heard that there were going to be 200 people in a program, but I think that there were 187 signed up. The interest in the program has been so great that people have had to be turned away. The program is called Super-Couponing, and it’s about how to save money while shopping. It’s an excellent topic considering today’s economic outlook.

I filled some holes in displays within the stacks. I think  I might go wander through the stacks some more and get a feel for what STDL has to offer.

I like the topic of the program – really taps into what folks are interested in. Did you get any pics of the crowd?

You’ve had quite a bit of variety already during your time on the desk! I just poked through the photos you’ve uploaded so far. The tagging is excellent, and I really like the way you’ve organized them into sets. You are doing a fantastic job, and we really appreciate your hard work.

It may have been slow, but I received a great comment from Judy, our Director of AudioVisual Services, concerning the other week:

She learned quite a bit on 2/2 when Jean switched with John! Jean spent almost the entire evening from 7-9pm making copies for the speaker for the business program. He had an 18 page handout for 60 patrons (only 32 had registered) and the collator was broken. We were really busy and Carrie jumped right in she learned how to do ILL’s on the fly and the location of some specialized items, business ratios books, etc. She was great I would hire her in a heartbeat!
