Friday Five: When I'm Director

Someday, I hope to be a library director. Here are five things I will do when I’m the director of a library. I’ve thought about what it takes to be a director, and what I’d like to see myself doing when I’m at this level.

1. When I’m a newbie, I will meet with each department as a whole to see what works and what doesn’t. I’d like to be able to fix something that’s broken, and continue other things that work.

2. I will not let people get stuck in their ways.

3. I will not be a doormat.

4. I will make sure that I practice transparency, and also make sure that the library is transparent to its patrons.

5. I will do some shelf reading every week. I want to lead by example.
